After the visit to the art gallery, the cycling tour begins towards Fryksta, Kil. Along the shore of Klarälven you will soon reach Grava, with its beautiful church. Then pass Lake Södra Hyn, and after a short while, you will reach the memorial of the first railway in Sweden, built in 1849. Take the opportunity to visit Apertin, with dramatic gullies surrounding the beautiful manor from the 17th century. Here Selma Lagerlöf found inspiration to write about the countess and the cavaliers in “Gösta Berling’s saga”. The journey continues to your first accommodation, the first railway station in Sweden, which has now turned into a hostel.

After breakfast, continue north on a nice gravel road through the forest by Örnäs. At Nilsby, feel free to cycle to the beautiful Nilsby Bridge, which has an amazing view of Lower Fryken as well as Middle Fryken. If you cycle over the bridge and take a little detour of approximately 1,5 kilometers, you can see the thousand-year-old oak, “Kammersrudseken”, which is the oldest tree in Värmland. Continue to the beautiful Hagudden, where you will be able to go for a nice swim. The journey continues along forest- and gravel roads to Bössviken, which was the location of steamer Freja’s salvaged (read more, “Things to see”).Enjoy the beautiful view while cycling along Fryken until you reach Smedsby. The food

The dinner menus,  typical traditional swedish dishes with a touch of Värmland, vary depending on the access to ecological and locally produced food, which we strive to offer.

When booking your cycling holiday, you will have the opportunity to choose meals from a menu. These meals consist of for example, smoked salmon, elk or herring. The dinners are partly prepared but you have to do some easy cooking, like boiling potatoes and make a salad. We will do everything to keep your effort in the kitchen to an absolute minimum.

The breakfast items are moved from door-to-door. If you run out of something, we will refill it for you. You find prepared lunch packs for next day’s hike in the cottage.

If you are a vegetarian or need any other special diet, please let us know when you book.
