This is how a typical day can look like

You start the biking holiday in Karlstad. Hopefully you visited the very well known artist Lars Lerin´s art gallery the day before. Filled with impressions from the exhibition and a good nights sleep you are now ready for todays biking adventure!  We will meet up at your accommodation with the bicycle, helmet, road maps and trail description. The backpack is filled with water, coffee and lunch. Now the journey up north begins!

You bike along Klarälven in Karlstad and eventually you reach the old embankment that now is a 90 kilometers long bicycle path, called “Klarälvsbanan”. Enjoy the pace while biking through the nice countryside. Feel the nature with all senses — the wind blowing in your face, the birds singing, the scent from forests and soil. Feel the serenity surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Along the way it´s nice to take a break and stretch your legs. There are many nice resting places along the “Klarälvsbanan”, for example at lake Syrsjön, just south of Deje. A lunchbreak here could be nice. Food taste so much better eating it outside in the nature, don´t you think?

The journey continues to Deje old power station which is now an art gallery. A lot of the old interior is saved and together with the 11 m high ceiling it creates av special atmosphere and setting for the art. Enjoy a coffee at the organic café and maybe a homemade cake!

With renewed energy you sit up on the bike again and roll over the river of Klarälven for the last part of the journey. A nice stay in a cottage or maybe a b&b awaits you.

If you like the biking holiday could be concluded with a train ride on beautiful “Fryksdalsbanan” back to Karlstad.

The dinner menus are typical traditional swedish dishes with a touch of Värmland. As we strive to offer ecological and locally produced food the menus may vary depending on access of suitable groceries.

When booking your holiday, you will have the opportunity to choose meals from a menu. These meals consist of for example, smoked salmon, meat from moose or herring. Please also notify us if you need any special diet.

In the cottages there will be food for breakfast, lunch, coffee (“fika”) and dinner. You make the lunchpackages by yourself while preparing breakfast. Homemade cakes are available for “fika” and fruits and nuts for extra energy. In the first cottage you will find a thermos which you use during the rest of your holiday.

We have prepared the dinners as far as it´s possible. Most often they just need to be warmed up. Some dishes are served cold, for example the hot smoked salmon. We strive to make your time in the kitchen as easy as possible. Your effort could be to boil potatoes and make a salad.
